La France

Wow, how do i start the trip? Perfect so far - the plane rides are painfully torturous (17 hours + 6 hours layover), but the best part is being in France where I felt in love with 30 years ago. Landed in CDC airport, we got through pretty quickly except there was some minor incident (a baggage was left unattended at the airport....so the bomb squat had to come in to check....one hour later we ran from our terminal (2A) to Sarah's terminal (2E) to find her standing there just in time...
We picked up a car (a tiny little cute car) from the Europe Car Rental and I put my Susan (GPS) with a European map on...It WORKED :)
Getting out of CDG Airport is not too bad with the GPS - next stop Caen (180 kilometers). I took the freeway to get out of Paris and there local road all the way...OMG, the country side was beautiful so beautiful that made me so so sad...I wish Mimi was here with me to enjoy the magnificent views. Views that can not be capture without being here. We drove through towns, churches, fields of gold, castles, rivers....We stopped where we wanted to stop. In fact, we decided to have some fresh local fruits so we stopped and got some peaches and apples (1 euro for 1 kilo ~2.2 lbs). We got to Evreux for some pate and bagguet and fromage and ate in the car with music playing so loud :). The pate + bagguet + fromage were out of the world good and pretty cheap too (6 euros).
Next stop? Where? I do not know, lets drive West....so i did. Ikept driving West to the next town for lunch, I decided to see Caen...We got to Caen in 1 hour from Evreux. The city is quite big, but absolutely charming with churches and castles and did i mention farmer's market, yes farmer's market with foods....We wanted to have a nice and leisure break so we stopped at a boulangerie (bakery) for chocolate eclaire and sweet...took it to a cafe near by and have some cafe and coke (for Sarah). The cafe was expensive, but the moment and the view were priceless.
90 minutes later, we drove off to see Mont Saint Michel (MSM) which was 100 kilometers away...no big deal! On the car, I drove to MSM, I saw many nice towns, but i could not stop (we ran out of time) - we got to MSM at 4:30, checked in at a small but quaint hotel (2 kilometers from MSM) - and walked to MSM.
MSM was gigantic and magnificent, you can see it from a distance 20 kilomters away...I have been waiting to show it to Miranda and Mimi for so long, but I had the chance to do it with Miranda and Sarah (Mimi was definitely with me in spirit).
2 hours later, we walked back to the hotel and found a nice place for dinner - It was 8 o'clock when we finished and the sun was still very high = 4 o'clock in Hawaii :)
We went back to the hotel, took showers and collapsed.
Tomorrow, Tour de France.
